Bristol weather latest: Met Office predicts sunshine after miserable downpours

Warm temperatures and sunny weather are finally set to arrive in Bristol today (March 17) following yesterday's miserable rainy downpours. The Met Office is predicting temperatures as high as 13C this afternoon, after wet weather swept across the city for hours yesterday.

Sunshine will beam down on the city from 7am until 3pm, when the day will start to get a bit cloudier. But from 10am onwards, temperatures will reach no lower than nine degrees. But looking ahead, experts at the Met Office are predicting seven days of sunshine, with mercury peaking at 16C next Wednesday.

The Met Office's forecast for the entire south west region is similarly bright. They have predicted that "after a cold start, it will be a dry and mostly sunny day.

"Some patchy cloud developing during the afternoon. Feeling pleasantly warm in the afternoon sunshine."

The warm days are set to continue into this weekend, so you'll be able to enjoy your free time in the sunshine. Temperatures in the city are set to reach their highest levels of the year so far, with temperatures of 15C through Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

And BBC Weather are predicting sunshine right up until Sunday, March 27, giving us 10 rain-free days. Meanwhile, the Met Office's long term forecast does not foresee rain in Bristol for the rest of the month.

Its prediction for March 21 until March 30 says any downpours will mostly affect the north of the United Kingdom, and adds: "Winds in the south are expected to be generally light. Temperatures will then most likely be close to, or slightly above, the long-term average."
