Bristol weather: Forecasters predict summer will return for one weekend only

While summer may be over, Bristol could still be set for some sunshine and warm temperatures later this weekend.

It was a fairly miserable start to the week, with a weather warning for thunderstorms in place in north Somerset near Bristol.

However, according to the Met Office, the rain and cloudy conditions will soon clear for some warm sunshine.

Forecasters say both Saturday and Sunday will be sunny, with highs of 21C expected.

The weather agency's outlook for the end of the week says: "Thursday is expected to be cloudy and warm, perhaps with some light rain for a time.

"Friday and Saturday are likely to be dry and bright with warm sunshine.

The Met Office forecast for Saturday (September 14) (Met Office)

"The middle of September is likely to be widely settled and dry with light winds and plenty of sunshine, especially in the south of the UK."

The forecast for Friday (September 13) looks promising too, with the Met Office forecasting sunny intervals changing to partly cloudy by nighttime.

Highs of 19C are also expected.
