Storm Ciara has brought heavy rain and severe gales to Bristol today (February 9) and it looks like the weather will continue to be unsettled for some time.

A Met Office amber warning for strong winds now covers much of England, including Bristol, and will be in place until 9pm this evening.

People who are travelling have been warned to expect disruption during this time, as well as the risk of flying debris and power cuts.

The wet and windy weather is likely to continue for some time too, with the Met Office forecasting gales and blustery showers on Monday (February 10).

Thankfully, the wind and rain will then clear for sunny spells later this week on Thursday (February 13).

The forecast for the south west for tomorrow says: "Bright spells and blustery showers at first. A spell of rain around midday.

"Clearing into the afternoon, but coastal showers still possible. Winds remain strong with gales. Maximum temperature 9C."
