Bristol Waste explains why some bin collections were missed yesterday

Bin crews in Bristol were unable to complete their usual rounds yesterday (Friday, November 20) due to staff shortages.

Bristol Waste issued a statement yesterday evening explaining why some recycling collections were missed in the Horfield area.

Staff illness was cited as the reason, and anyone whose bins were missed can put them back out for collection on Monday (November 23).

The statement read: "Due to higher levels of sickness, we were unable to collect from several roads today.

"If your road is on the list please leave bring your bins and boxes in and put them out on Monday before 6am when we’ll return to collect them.

"Thank you for your patience."

The affected roads were listed as:

  • Brent Road
  • Bromley Road
  • Draycott Road
  • Muller Road
  • Springfield Avenue
  • Uphill Road

It is not clear how many households were affected.

For anyone who needs to dispose of their waste more urgently, recycling centres remain open during the national lockdown.

However, Bristol Waste advises: "Our current rules around access and the number plate system will remain in place.

"We anticipate the recycling centres will continue to be busy....please only visit if you have to."
