Bristol venue SWX undergoing major revamp to create luxury VIP areas

A nightclub in Bristol city centre is being transformed into a paradise for those who enjoy a slice of luxury on a night out.

Work began on transforming Room 2 at SWX yesterday (January 6) with the refurbishment - which will cost more than £100,000 - set to be completed on Saturday, January 25.

At the grand relaunch that night, visitors to the Nelson Street venue will be able to book out one of the newly-created VIP booths for the first time.

In addition to the 10 new private areas that will vary in size, the entire room is being completely refurbished and will look unrecognisable from its former self when it reopens, according to the venue's marketing manager, Ben Townley.

"We're really excited about the work, Room 2 has been the same for a while now and it's about time it had a revamp," he said.

"The VIP experience is really popular at the moment and the new Room 2 is going to look amazing - the whole area will be completely unrecognisable from before.

"Everything is being ripped out and being replaced with new equipment, and all the walls are being painted too to give it a fresh look.

"We can't wait to see what it looks like after the work is finished."

The downstairs room will be unaffected while the work is ongoing, with indie rockers Bombay Bicycle Club set to perform there on Monday night, while Room 2 will also remain open but will be scaled back.

Groups of people will be able to book out the booths with package deals starting at £10 per person, which includes entry to the club.

As well as your own separate area for you and your mates, you will also get a bottle of spirit and a number of fun extras chucked in such as a Polaroid camera, confetti poppers, sparklers and fake money guns to make it a truly memorable night.

At the grand relaunch on January 25, partygoers can expect to find magicians, live performers and more.

SWX, which is owned by the same people behind Electric Brixton in London, hosts two club nights every weekend.

Farfetched is on Fridays and Codec is held on Saturdays.

SWX has also become one of Bristol's best venues for live music in recent years, attracting the biggest acts across a wide range of genres.
