Bristol University coronavirus cases rise to more than 1,300 as more test positive over the weekend

The University of Bristol has confirmed more than 1,300 positive tests for coronavirus, according to the latest figures.

A total of 1,296 students have tested positive for covid-19 at the University of Bristol now, together with 36 members of staff, taking the total of confirmed cases at the university to 1,326.

The latest update from the University of Bristol on Monday (October 26) said 30 students had tested positive for coronavirus in the past 24 hours, together with two staff members.

The University has also released the figures for the weekend, with 51 students testing positive on Saturday (October 24) and 63 on Sunday (October 25). Nine new cases were recorded among staff members over the weekend.

The University of Bristol has been dealing with a coronavirus outbreak since the beginning of October and, on Friday, we were able to reveal how coronavirus cases have soared by 870 per cent at Bristol University in just 16 days.

In recent days, the number of new positive tests among students seems to have slowed down and the University hasn't confirmed more than a hundred positive tests among its students since since Wednesday, October 14, when 126 cases were confirmed.

The biggest rise last week was recorded on Tuesday (October 20), when 83 students tested positive - while Monday saw the smallest rise with 25.

This comes on the same day the University revealed it had issued 42 fines to students so far this month for breaking coronavirus rules around gatherings.

The University of the West of England has reported 224 cases in the past week, with the latest figures published on Sunday, October 25 revealing a daily rise of 30 cases.
