Bristol traffic and road closures: Tell us what you think about Bristol Bridge and blocking through traffic from 16 roads

The coronavirus pandemic stopped the city for a few months - and we all noticed the cleaner air, the quiet roads and the lack of traffic jams.

But now, as the city slowly gets back to a new kind of normal, the roads are getting full again.

But drivers returning to the city's streets are beginning to notice a difference - and there are more differences to come.

The measures enacted by Bristol City Council affect people driving private cars, who could well be finding more streets closed and routes unavailable to them - that is, of course, as long as they stay in those private cars, and don't switch to walking, cycling or public transport.

The most immediate change is the banning of private vehicle through traffic over Bristol Bridge and down Baldwin Street, that began on August 1.Cyclists, pedestrians, mopeds, taxis and buses can still access the bridge freely.

Next, the city council has submitted a bid for funding to stop through traffic on 16 roads around the city - from Clifton to Easton to Bedminster.

It will mean people can still access that road in private cars, but can't go in one end of that road and out the other. And it could mean more space and more time for people walking or riding their bikes.

The full list of the 16 roads is here.

It doesn't matter if you don't own a car and cycle everywhere, or if you never go anywhere in Bristol unless it's in your car - and everyone in between.

We want to hear from everyone.
