Bristol to host new film, food and comedy festival this summer

A touring outdoor cinema company is bringing a new film, food and comedy festival to Bristol.

Adventure Cinema will stage its jam-packed event at 15 major green spaces across the UK this summer, including Clifton Downs between August 5-8.

Film & Food Fest will feature four days of outdoor cinema with classic movies and recent releases, stand-up comedy from top comedians and local street food.

Saturday and Sunday afternoon of the "socially spacious" festival will be reserved for popular family films, with classics like The Lion King and The Goonies, and modern favourites like The Greatest Showman Sing-A-Long, Onward and Doolittle.

Friday, Saturday and Sunday evening will feature live comedy from some of the UK’s most exciting comedians, followed by blockbuster movies.

With a varied mix of films on offer - including favourites such as Grease and Dirty Dancing and some of 2020’s finest like Joker, JoJo Rabbit and The Invisible Man - there will be something for everyone to enjoy.

Thursday evening will see a showcase of short movies from some of the region's finest independent filmmakers, highlighting the work of local creatives and giving their work a platform.

There will also be delicious street food from local traders to enjoy, curated by Street Food Warehouse.

Revellers can expect everything from gourmet burgers and bruschetta to crepes and caramel ice cream, alongside a dedicated bar serving beers and cocktails.

Gates will open up to three hours before each film starts so visitors have plenty of time to enjoy their food and drink and soak up the atmosphere.

A festival spokesperson said Film & Food Fest will be taking place "exclusively in socially spacious, outdoor venues across the country" to ensure its safety.

There will also be other measures in place, they said, meaning the festival will be 100 per cent compliant with Government safety guidelines.

Tickets

Adult tickets start at £16.50 + booking fee. For afternoon showings, children 12 and under go half price.

Ticket holders will be offered a 100 per cent money-back guarantee should anything mean the events cannot go ahead. Two pounds from every ticket sold for the short film nights will be used to support local film organisations within Bristol.
