Bristol Temple Meads delays: Police issue update after person hit by train

A person has been taken to hospital after being hit by a train between Bristol and Bath.

Paramedics and police rushed to the line near Bathwick around 11:13am after reports of a casualty on the tracks.

Train lines between Bristol Temple Meads and Swindon/Westbury were closed for multiple hours on Wednesday morning after the incident.

Train services have since been restored, though delays are expected.

A spokesperson for British Transport Police, said: "Officers were called to the line in Bathwick at 11.13am following reports of a casualty on the tracks.

"Paramedics also attended and a person has been taken to hospital. The incident is not being treated as suspicious."

In a tweet, Great Western Railway said: "Following a person hit by a train earlier the line has now reopened.

"Train services between Bristol Temple Meads and Westbury / Swindon are returning to normal but some disruption is expected until 13:30."
