Bristol students to hold 'largest ever' climate strike this month

Bristol students will take to the streets for their "largest ever" climate strike later this month.

School pupils have been protesting every month since February to call on the Government to tackle the climate crisis.

Bristol Youth Strike 4 Climate have previously rallied against a planning application for an expansion at Bristol Airport as part of their protests.

The next march will be held later this month on September 20 and will be part of worldwide day of action.

This time, the group are calling on everyone, including unionists, nurses and teachers, to join them in their protest against the Government.

A post on the event's Facebook page reads: "It's the first academic month of the year and we. are. BACK.

"This time, we're joining up nationally to call on young and old for a collaborative strike for the sake of our futures.

"On September 20, the UK Student Climate Network is calling on everyone - adults, workers, community groups, trade unionists, nurses, teachers, steel workers, car manufacturers, waiters and everyone else in between to join us in a global general climate strike.

"We will be joining people all around the world in what's set to be a massive day of climate action.

"Join us in Bristol for what we anticipate will be the largest climate mobilisation the city has ever seen.

"The day will be full of the usual: die-ins, inspiring speakers, chants and of course a very grand march.

"However this time we'll be collaborating with other Bristol organisations so expect a few surprises."

Activists will be meeting at College Green at 11am before they begin marching through the city centre.
