Bristol student buildings Centre Gate and The Colston sold off for £18million

Two student accommodation buildings in Bristol have been sold off for £18.65million.

Sunway Residence has snapped up Centre Gate and The Colston, which are based in the city centre, in the deal.

The 86-bed Centre Gate building and the 77-bed Colston have both undergone refurbishment and renovation, and are fully let out to students in Bristol every year.

Centre Gate is made up of luxury self-contained apartments with high-spec interiors, while The Colston has been reburbished in a contemporary design and has a large communal lounge for those living within the building.

The sale of the two properties does not affect the operating of Centre Gate or The Colston.

Julian Painter, director at HBD, which developed both assets as part of a joint venture with The Markey Group, said: “Both prime assets, Centregate and The Colston were HBD’s first foray into the student accommodation market, which has proved very successful.

“Both have a solid trading history, are extremely well-located and are designed to the highest standards, so we’ve no doubt that they will continue to perform well.”

HBD has offices in Bristol, Glasgow, Manchester, Birmingham, London and Sheffield.

The company is working with a development pipeline of more than £1.6billion.
