A series of summer concerts planned for June at the Lloyds Amphitheatre in the centre of Bristol have been cancelled, following the announcement by the Prime Minister of the 'road map' out of lockdown.
The 'Bristol Sounds' series had already been moved frrom the summer of 2020 to this June, but won't now take place, despite Boris Johnson announcing most restrictions should be lifted by June 21.
Organisers of the Bristol Sounds series said June 2021 would be 'too soon' to be able to run a concert series, even though the events are outdoors.
The amphitheatre was due to stage Paul Heaton and Jacqui Abbott, Supergrass and an all-day festival called A Beautiful Day Out with The Levellers between June 23 and 26.
"We have come to the decision that June 2021 is too soon to be able to run an outdoor concert on the scale of Bristol Sounds," said Conal Dodds, the founder of Crosstown Concerts, announcing ticket-holders would be automatically refunded.
"Although this is very disappointing for our team, our ticket holders and the whole supply chain which the event supports, we don't want to compromise the gig-going experience.

"We are already working on a really brilliant line up for the 2022 edition and will be announcing details in the coming months." Organisers said anyone with tickets already bought would get a refund onto the card with which they bought the tickets.
There is no word yet on planned outdoor city centre gigs by Lionel Ritchie on June 21 and Bryan Adams on June 26, which are being organised by a different set-up to Crosstown Concerts' gigs in the amphitheatre.
Ticket agencies for the Lionel Ritchie and Bryan Adams gigs have never specified their locations, and there is yet to be an announcement on the future of those two gigs, but Bristol Live will bring you updates on those as we get them.
