Bristol snooker champ Judd Trump withdraws from Masters after positive Covid test

Bristol’s Judd Trump has tested positive for coronavirus and been forced to withdraw from the Masters .

In a massive blow to the top-16 only tournament, the world No.1 received the result on Saturday and has been replaced by world No.19 Joe Perry.

Trump, 31, was due to face world No.13 David Gilbert in his first round match on Sunday.

World No.14 Jack Lisowski also tested positive and has been replaced by world No.20 Gary Wilson, who will play World Championship finalist Kyren Wilson on Sunday.

Wilson and Perry were already on site in Milton Keynes and received negative results over the weekend.

Trump, 2019 world champion and a 20-time ranking event winner, will now undergo a period of self-isolation and will miss out on a shot on the £250,000 prize.

Trump won the prestigious event – one of snooker’s majors – in 2019 and has also scooped a hat-trick of ranking event titles this season.

All other players and officials at the behind closed doors event have so far received negative test results.

People can watch the London Masters live on Eurosport and Eurosport app from Jan 10
