Bristol shortlisted in global competition to find world's best business locations

A workspace in Bristol has been shortlisted in a competition to find the world's best business locations.

Entrepreneur Neil Elliot, 49, entered a picture of his office at home in Clifton .

Mr Elliot, who is co-founder of SirGordonBennett.com - a website promoting British design and manufacturing - described his home workspace as a "sanctuary" where he is growing his business.

He said: “ I shut the door and dream what the business will become and how we can promote craftsmanship businesses from around Britain.

“To my right are a pair of doors that open onto a small, Juliet balcony, and a gorgeous view onto some white Georgian Stucco houses and their gardens. They help to inspire me when I am stuck with a business problem or when I just need to clear my head.

“The room and the location seem to fit harmoniously with the business I am building.”

The winner of the competition, which is being run by London-based tech company UENI, will win £200 in Amazon vouchers while four runners up will win £25 each.

The winners will be revealed on the UENI website on World Entrepreneurs’ Day on August 21.

Christine Telyan, chief executive of UENI, said: "As a freelancer, small business or sole trader, you can work in some fantastic locations, be it on the beach with your laptop, on a balcony with a great view, or simply in an office which always makes you smile.

“This competition is going to reveal the most inspiring and unusual places people spend their working days, all over the world.”

The ‘World’s Best Business Locations’ competition is open for entries until July 19. Enter a photo of your favourite place to work or do business here .
