Bristol sees 20 new coronavirus cases in 24 hours

The latest coronavirus figures reveal Bristol now has 137 cases, up from 117 yesterday.

The number of regional cases, which were published this afternoon (April 2) also show South Gloucestershire has 91, up from 76 yesterday.

North Somerset now has 50 cases, up from 42 yesterday.

However, due to a shortage of tests only the most severe cases are being confirmed and it is likely the real number is in the thousands.

Comedian Eddie Large, who lived in Portishead, is one of the people to have passed away in the region from the virus this week along with First Bus driver Martin Egan died on Saturday, March 28, after falling ill with Covid-19 two weeks ago.

It has been confirmed 14 people have died with the virus at BRI, but the figures for Southmead are yet to be released.
