Bristol's new retro gaming bar needs people to test it out ahead of opening

A new retro gaming arcade bar set to open in Bristol city centre is calling for gamers to test out the venue before it opens. NQ64 is opening next week on Baldwin Street on the large site previously home to Opa restaurant and nightclub.

People chosen for games testing will have an exclusive first look at the neon-splattered bar ahead of its official opening. NQ64’s team - which has ten other venues across the UK - has said that testers will have free reign of the venue to test the retro arcade games and consoles while having a sneak peek inside and sampling the drinks menu too.

NQ64 owner Mark Robson said: “We are mega excited to be bringing NQ64 to the southwest, and really need Bristol’s support to help us with our games and drinks testing. We’re grafting getting the venue ready to open, it’s starting to take shape and we can’t wait for everyone to see it.”

Games that will be on offer at NQ64 include pinball machines and classic 90s and early 00s arcades games, such as Pac-Man, Guitar Hero, Street Fighter and Time Crisis, and a dance machine, as well as retro consoles including SNES, MegaDrive, Gamecube and PlayStation.

The lucky few will also enjoy complimentary drinks - including game-themed cocktails (including alcohol-free), craft beers, and spirits in return for feedback on the night, with sessions available on July 3 and 4. The venue will hold around 300 people, making NQ64 one of the largest venues in the area.

Testers will be chosen at random from a list of people who sign up, with the successful testers also able to bring a plus one with them to enjoy the sneak peek. The official opening will be July 6.
