Bristol's Motion announces end of In:Motion series amid nightclub's uncertain future

One of Bristol's best nightclubs has announced that its popular event series is ending, just months after it was announced the venue's future could be in jeopardy.

In:Motion has run at the sprawling St Philips space for the past decade, attracting a countless number of the world's best DJs.

But after this year's In:Motion series, which will be its tenth anniversary, it will be no more as the area around the club 'faces challenges which mean there can be no guarantee of a future'.

A spokesperson for the club, which was named as the Best Large Club in the UK in December, said: "This year marks the tenth year of In:Motion. It will also be the last season.

"With the surrounding area of the club continuing to evolve, Motion is facing certain challenges, which means there is no guarantee of another season of In:Motion.

"It’s pertinent that the tenth instalment truly signifies what the club has brought to Bristol and the UK in general.

"This will be the last chance for dance music lovers to experience In:Motion as we know it.

"While we face uncertainty at the club, our passion towards developing high-quality events and bringing the biggest names in dance music to Bristol remains stronger than ever.

"2020 will see a new wave of events and the start of a new chapter in the Motion history books. We look forward to sharing the dance floor with you for this last season of In:Motion."

In:Motion 2019 series

To celebrate 10 years since its inception, the team behind DJ Mag’s Best Large UK Club 2018 have announced a typically genre-spanning and star-studded bill of artists to head up the initial wave of lineups for their In:Motion 2019 schedule.

There are nights showcasing virtually every dance music genre with the most esteemed names in techno, house, drum & bass and more all set for stints behind the decks.

Major labels including Drumcode, Hospitality and Annie Mac's AMP all feature in the series, which kicks off on September 28.
