Bristol's IKEA one of 19 stores reopening - the full list and new rules which will be in place

Furniture giant IKEA has announced the reopening date for 19 of its branches, including its Bristol store in Eastgate Road.

The Swedish homeware chain will start to welcome customers back in a matter of days, and measures will be in place to encourage safe shopping.

'Social distancing wardens' will be patrolling the stores, and the number of customers allowed inside will be limited.

Hull Live reports these 19 stores across England and Northern Ireland will reopen on June 1:

  • Bristol
  • Croydon
  • Greenwich
  • Lakeside
  • Wembley
  • Tottenham
  • Norwich collection point
  • Birmingham
  • Nottingham
  • Belfast
  • Manchester
  • Warrington
  • Gateshead
  • Leeds
  • Sheffield
  • Milton Keynes
  • Reading
  • Southampton
  • Exeter

Restaurants and play areas will remain closed but the food market will reopen for customers to make food like Swedish meatballs at home, the retailer added.

It had previously been reported that IKEA would be reopening its shops on May 18, but that did not happen.

All 22 branches were closed when the UK went into lockdown at the end of March.
