Bristol's Everyman Cinema expands into former steakhouse

In December of last year Bristol hotspot - Everyman Cinema delivered big news. The small film-spot is known for offering a luxurious viewing experience and they shared plans to make it even better.

Although, sad news for steak fans - movie buffs were excited to learn that the cinema would be adding an extra screen which would replace 'Cowshed' on Whiteladies Road. The plans made room for the former eatery to be used as an extra 37-seat screen, as well as providing extra lounge space for the cinema.

According to planning documents submitted to the council, customers have been asking the Everyman to show more films. A planning statement written by planning consultants Firstplan on behalf of the cinema said: "The driving force for the proposals has been customer requests for additional and a wider selection of screenings, only possible if there is an additional screen."

And, as of May 31 this year the new screen has been open for enjoyment. The brand new room in the picture house allows for more guests to enjoy the famously comfortable plush velvet sofas and armchairs, which promise a premium experience from start to finish.

The Everyman team intend to "redefine cinema" with its "innovative approach to an elevated film experience". And, now with four screens the cinema promises to seat more and show many more films.

The cinemas new revamp not only brings a new screen but also an expanded lounge area. As well as offering comfy seating, Everyman allows for guests to enjoy their full menu in their seating area prior to their screening.

The extensive food and drink menu includes hand stretched pizzas and premium burgers, accompanied by hand-cut skin-on fries. Sitting alongside this, there is a selection of vegan dishes including a plant-based cheeseburger, and pizza topped with chargrilled artichoke, sun dried tomato and plant based mozzarella. And for those with a sweet tooth, there’s freshly baked cookie dough, chocolatey treats and an indulgent new Biscoff milkshake made with plant-based vanilla ice cream and soya milk.

There is also a full bar, with speciality wine and beer, indulgent cocktails and a range of alcohol-free drinks; certainly offering more than your average cinema popcorn and nachos. And the cinema now has extra space for all to enjoy.
