Bristol's Covid rate is now significantly above the national average as more than 100 infections have been confirmed in the last 24 hours.
Government statistics reveal that 209 positive test results were reported in Bristol and the surrounding areas today (June 22).
The highest number of cases were recorded in Bristol, with 111. Our city's Covid rate per 100,000 stands at 156.2 - this compares to the national average of 94.6 and the South West's 80.6.
South Gloucestershire reporter 56 positive test results - this district's rate is now 87.
Less than 25 positive test results were recorded in North Somerset and Bath and North East Somerset respectively.
There were no new deaths within 28 days of a positive test result recorded in the Bristol area.
Yesterday, Bristol's health chief warned the city was at another critical point in the pandemic, while North Somerset Council said there's been an 'unusual spike' in infections.
