A further 530 Covid cases have been confirmed in Bristol over the last 24 hours.
That figure is more than double compared to the number of infections reported on October 18 last year in our city, when 160 was recorded.
And it's a similar picture across the region, with 433 cases reported in South Gloucestershire today, compared to 50 on the same day last year.

The North Bristol NHS Trust has recorded eight Covid patients admitted to hospital on Sunday, with a total of 37 in hospital and five on mechanical ventilation. On this day last year, four Covid patients were admitted to the same trust.
Meanwhile, there were three patients admitted to the University Hospitals Bristol and Weston NHS Foundation Trust, with a total of 45 in the hospital and six on ventilation. In 2020, five Covid patients were admitted on October 18.
Across Bristol's region today nearly 1,500 new cases have been recorded in one day.
The total number of cases confirmed in each region around Bristol since the pandemic began, with the daily rise in brackets, are as follows:

- North Somerset: 22,015 (+256)
- South Gloucestershire - 33,076 (+433)
- Bath and North East Somerset: 21,103 (+279)
