Between April 23 to 29, there were 12 deaths at University Hospitals Bristol, which runs Bristol Royal Infirmary and Southmead Hospital.

This compares to the week ending April 22, when 29 people lost their lives at both hospitals.

And during April 9 to 15, some 35 died after contracting Covid-19 and being admitted to Bristol hospitals.

Overall, 150 people have now died in Bristol's hospitals.

The figures come on the same day Prime Minster Boris Johnson told the nation we are 'past the peak' of the deadly disease.

Figures also showed, Bristol now has 601 confirmed cases following a rise of eight over the last 24 hours.

As of 6.04pm on April 30, the number of cases in South Gloucestershire stood at 341, which is a rise of two.

In North Somerset 13 further positive Covid-19 tests have been recorded, taking the total number to 231 cases, according to the Public Health England figures.

Overall, the UK has recorded 26,711 deaths, which is the third highest number in the world. Italy's data shows 27,682 have lost their lives while in the US, 61,700 have died.
