Bristol's best burger officially revealed after vote goes to the people

We asked Bristol where to find the city’s tastiest burger and with great passion, the people have responded.

Singling out one burger spot in a city spoilt with culinary riches was no easy feat; tasty treats are easily found in every corner of this beautiful city. But one definitive winner emerged after the vote went to the people in a BristolLive survey – a place one voter described as having burgers that were: “Super juicy, tasty and without the need for weird gimmicks”.

So without further adieu, the burger joint crowned in eternal glory is… Asado.

The Colston Street spot has garnered critical acclaim amongst Bristol’s burger lovers for its wood-grilled buns that celebrate the best of west country ingredients.

“I think what we do, is we do beef really well… we do simple smoked beef really well,” sous-chef, Archie Whitehead said. “Our cheese is from farms in the South West and it’s all good local stuff. I think good ingredients is what makes a simple burger the best”.

Creating Bristol’s best burger has been a labour of love for Asado. Eager to outdo competitors and create something more than well-cooked meat in a bun, Asado’s owner meticulously worked on the flavour combinations that create the now renowned menu.

Archie explained: “There was a few years of r and d done by our owner, Lucien, to get the Asado burger to what it is - the confit garlic, the pickled onion and chimichurri. He took a few years finalising that recipe.”

Do you agree that Asado makes the best burgers? Let us know in the comments!

Oak grilled dry-aged beef patty, west country cheddar, chimichurri, confit garlic mayo, pickled red onion and natural ketchup: the Asado burger is a certified showstopper.

Appropriately, they share their love of burgers beyond meat-eaters with an appetising range of meat-free burgers and sides. Eager for diners not to miss out on their signature flavours, the veggie and vegan Asado burger still champions all of the same delicate touches as its meat-filled counterpart, just without the obvious parts.

And whilst the burgers take primary focus, no one said an insatiable selection of chicken wings would do their chances at the crown any harm. Yes, their wood-smoked burgers regularly put the ball in the net, but it’s often their finger-licking sidekicks that provide the assist.

Whitehead said: “A small section of the kitchen is open – people walk past me, in particular, all the time, because of the station that I’m on – and they say they really enjoy the food and love the food. I had a woman the other day tell me they were the best wings she’s ever had”.

Asado’s attention to detail is so prominent, it’s almost a digestible extra. One voter remarked that “their ingredients are fresh” and “you can taste the care and love”.

Whilst another complimented the whole package saying: “Decent ingredients, amazing creative burgers and great vibes”.

What are you waiting for? Bristol’s best burger is currently sat waiting for consumption. You can get a taste every weeknight from 5pm to 9pm and weekend from 1pm onwards. Nestled on the top of Colston Street, its street-lining queues make it an easy place to find.
