Bristol's award-winning burger bar Squeezed reopens

A Bristol burger bar recognised as one of the best in the UK has reopened.

In 2019 Squeezed owner Alex Hayes put the city on the map when he was named Burger Chef of the Year at the National Burger Awards, beating 15 others from across the UK.

Buoyed by his win, he expanded to a larger unit at Cargo in February this year, having first opened at the Wapping Wharf development in August 2017.

But just one month after launching in his new-and-improved home Alex was forced to close as the UK-wide lockdown was announced.

While many restaurants launched click and collect and delivery services in the wake of the announcement, Squeezed did no such thing - but you'll be pleased to hear that has now changed.

The award-winning restaurant will be firing up the grills for the first time in more than three months on Thursday (July 9), with its incredible burgers available to order via Wriggle from today

"We're back with our beautiful pals @wrigglebristol to open our kitchen and do what we do," the restaurant said in a statement.

"From Monday morning the Wriggle hotlines (app/website) will allow you to order from us to come grab a takeaway at a time of your preference.

"It's the best way to keep you, our wider community and our team safe and well operate this way over the next few weeks.

"Let's stay safe and look out for each other. I'm looking forward to welcoming you to the door (just no further)."

People can order their burger, fries and homemade lemonade for collection from the restaurant using Wriggle or opt for it to be delivered using Uber Eats.

Squeezed will initially be open between Thursday and Sunday and is not yet welcoming dine-in customers.
