"Announce a striker wearing this", one Bristol Rovers supporter tweeted earlier this week with a mock-up of a new away kit.
Well, close enough. On the same day Rovers announced the signing of veteran poacher Brett Pitman, the club debuted its new away kit sporting the yellow and green quarters many fans have been calling for.
Last season's black and yellow away strip was popular, but the quarters are Bristol Rovers and their striking new second kit will undoubtedly be a popular purchase for many supporters.
The shirt pays homage to the 1992/93 away strip, which can fetch hundreds of pounds online.
Like the home kit, Rovers' away shirt is sponsored by Utilita and manufactured by Macron.
The shirt is on sale now, priced £45 for adult sizes and £35 for juniors.
"The Gas will sport a yellow and green away strip next season, with the return of a colour scheme that has proved popular with supporters in the past," a club spokesman said.
"The famous quarters feature prominently in the design, with an eye-catching modern twist."
"The colour scheme is continued in the shorts - with the vibrant yellow partnered with a black trim. The socks are predominately yellow, with green stripes.
"Utilita feature as the front of shirt sponsor, with Poplar Insulation continuing to support the Gas as our back of shirt sponsor, featuring just below the collar.
"Like our 2021/22 home kit, our away strip is made out of Eco-Fabric, 100% of which comes from recycled plastic and has been certified by Global Recycled Standard."
