Bristol Rovers' trip to Accrington Stanley on Saturday in doubt due to positive COVID-19 tests

Bristol Rovers' trip to Accrington Stanley on Saturday is in doubt after Stanley reported positive COVID-19 tests.

A spokesman for the Lancashire club said: "A number of Accrington Stanley players have today tested positive for COVID-19.

"Further information will be announced in due course."

A Bristol Rovers spokesman told Bristol Live: "We are aware of the recent statement from Accrington Stanley and are awaiting further information from the EFL on the situation in regards to Saturday’s fixture."

Ben Garner's pre-match press conference, scheduled for 9am on Friday, is set to be pushed back as the club awaits answers from the EFL.

Players testing positive for coronavirus have already seen one League One fixture postponed this season.

Crewe Alexandra's trip to Oxford United on October 3 was called off less than an hour before kick off after Crewe received several positive COVID tests.

UPDATE (9pm): The EFL has confirmed the game is OFF. Read more here.
