Bristol Rovers' Tom Lockyer and host of suitors including Nottingham Forest, Hull and Portsmouth face wait to get deal done

Both Tom Lockyer and his potential suitors face an extended wait before any decision is made on his future.

The Bristol Rovers captain will leave the club on a free this summer after turning down a new contract at the Memorial Stadium.

The 24-year-old centre-back has inevitably been linked with a number of clubs since his departure was announced earlier this month, including Championship sides Nottingham Forest and Hull City and League One Portsmouth.

Lockyer is currently training with Ryan Giggs' Wales squad ahead of their Euro 2020 qualifiers against Croatia and Hungary, with the first match in Osijek on June 8, and had previously said he wanted to have his future sorted before then .

Speaking on May 16, he said: "Realistically there are four Championship teams who are willing to put something on the table and there's a few other League One teams.

"I've got to go away with Wales this summer so it will be nice to have something done before that, whether we'll able to or not will be a different story."

However, Ryan Giggs has confirmed his squad after a six-day training camp in Portugal and Lockyer is a member of it.

Unless a decision has already been made pending an announcement, there is unlikely to be any news until after Wales' second game against Hungary on June 11 at the earliest.
