Bristol Rovers to donate streaming revenue from Oxford United game to charity

Bristol Rovers will donate their share of the streaming revenue for Saturday's pre-season friendly against Oxford United to charity.

The Gas face The Us in their final fixture before the League Two campaign begins, with hundreds of home fans set to be in attendance.

But for Gasheads unable to attend and Oxford supporters, who are not eligible to buy tickets, streaming will be available via the clubs' iFollow platforms.

Streaming passes are available online for £5 and the clubs will split the profits from the stream equally.

Rovers have elected to donate their share of the cash to the club's community trust, which orchestrates a wide range of projects across Bristol and has been pivotal in supporting vulnerable people throughout the pandemic.

The donation is sure to be a healthy boost to the charity's coffers.

"This is a fantastic gesture from the football club, strengthening the close relationship between the community trust and Bristol Rovers Football Club," trust CEO Adam Tutton said.

"We have a number of new and exciting projects taking place this season and the money generated will allow us to further our offering and expand our reach in the local community."

Rovers' commercial director Tom Gorringe added: "We are pleased to support the fantastic work of the community trust and we hope that if fans are unable to attend the game in person, then they will tune in to watch our final pre-season fixture online.

"The funds generated will allow the community trust to build on the important projects that they provide across the city of Bristol, catering for all sectors of our community."

Tickets and streaming passes for tomorrow's game are available on Rovers' website.
