Bristol Rovers star Jonson Clarke-Harris gets his just deserts for goalscoring exploits in March

Bristol Rovers' star striker has inevitably been nominated for the player of the month award.

Jonson Clarke-Harris has hit the ground running since joining the Gas from Coventry in January, netting nine times to give Rovers' survival hopes a real boost.

Eight of those goals arrived in seven games in March, starting with a hat-trick against Blackpool in a 4-0 win at the Memorial Stadium.

Those strikes helped his team to secure three crucial wins and two draws in League One in a busy period.

Among them were two runs followed by long-range rockets into the top corner against Gillingham and Plymouth respectively.

Having only scored five times for Coventry this season before his move, it's fair to say the 24-year-old striker has been a revelation.

His outrageous goalscoring record last month has now been recognised by the EFL.

The Rovers frontman has been nominated for the Sky Bet Player of the Month award for March.

Clarke-Harris is up against Burton's Lucas Akins, Barnsley's Dimitri Cavaré and Peterborough's Marcus Maddison for the award.

The winner will be announced at 6am on Friday, April 12.
