Bristol Rovers player ratings vs Charlton: Ayunga shines but Kilgour and Day errors prove costly

Joe Day - 4

Andrew Shinnie's half-volley was superb and gave Day no chance, but he may regret his positioning for Jake Forster-Caskey's equaliser. He afforded the midfielder plenty of goal to aim at with his free-kick. Stitched up for Conor Washington's winner and then was sent off after a hesitant attempt to beat Chuks Aneke to a header.

George Williams - 6

Had his work cut out with Charlton threatening down his side, but he did OK.

Alfie Kilgour - 4

Was having an excellent night under intense pressure, but inside the final 10 minutes he inexplicably tried to head back to his goalkeeper with Conor Washington lurking. A fatal error which cost Rovers a point.

Jack Baldwin - 6

Dogged defensive performance and handled the muscular battle with Jayden Stockley well.

Luke Leahy (c) - 6

Coolly dispatched his penalty but his best work came in the second half. Communicated brilliantly with his teammates to help Rovers navigate through some hairy moments, but his hard work counted for nothing at full time.

Ed Upson - 7

His goal had an element of fortune, but his overall performance was excellent. Moved the ball well and screened the defence expertly.

Luke McCormick - 5

Good work out of possession, but erratic on the ball.

Zain Westbrooke - 5

Pulled the strings in the first half and but was poor after the break.

Sam Nicholson - 5

Missed a big chance to make it 2-0 and struggled to get into the game thereafter.

Brandon Hanlan - 5

Did some dirty work in his own box, clearing several corners, but his influence in the other penalty area was limited.

Jonah Ayunga - 7

Was the focal point of an excellent first-half performance, winning the penalty and going so close to scoring a goal of his own. Influence waned after the break.

Subs

Cameron Hargreaves (for Nicholson on 65') - 5

Hurried on the ball.

James Daly (for Hanlan on 82') - NA

Mark Little (for Westbrooke on 82') - NA

Jordi van Stappershoef (for Upson on 90+4') - NA

Not used: Mark Little, Max Ehmer, Pablo Martinez, Zain Walker.
