Bristol Rovers player ratings as van Stappershoef and forwards struggle at MK Dons

Jordi van Stappershoef - 4

Beaten by a screamer for the first goal, but he was solely to blame for the second. His shocking kick gifted the home side possession with Rovers out of position. He was made to pay and the error killed Rovers' efforts to get back into the game

Max Ehmer (c) - 6

Decent performance for the most part, blunting MK's efforts to attack down the right flank.

Alfie Kilgour - 6

Steady outing in the middle of defence, making plenty of good interventions with feet, head and body. One mistake in possession did almost cost Rovers a third goal.

Jack Baldwin - 5

Committed display in defence and made a block on the line to prevent a third goal.

Luke Leahy - 5

Got stuck in but offered minimal attacking output.

Ed Upson - 4

Inconsistent in possession. Some positive moments in the first half, but his influenced waned and he became sloppy.

Luke McCormick - 5

Went closer than anyone to scoring for the Gas, almost making it 2-1 with an inventive snapshot. Had a quiet afternoon otherwise.

Ben Gladwin of Milton Keynes Dons and Sam Nicholson of Bristol Rovers. (Leila Coker/JMP)

Cameron Hargreaves - 5

Snappy as usual in the tackle, but the home side won the midfield battle.

Ali Koiki - 4

Tough afternoon for the youngster. Got in good areas but did not make good use of the ball.

Sam Nicholson - 4

Often a spectator with Rovers losing the possession battle. Didn't have his usual influence, and did not make his moments on the ball count.

Brandon Hanlan - 4

A struggle up top for the number nine with minimal service, but he did get the ball in some good areas and should have done better. Looked tired when he came off, with the 10 days of isolation hitting Rovers hard.

Subs

Josh Barrett (for Hargreaves on 68) - 5

Tried to make things happen, but was careless with the ball.

Alex Rodman (for Koiki on 77) - 6

First appearance of the season. Good to have him back on the pitch.

Jonah Ayunga (for Hanlan on 84) - N/A

Not used: Liam Armstrong, Mark Little, Ben Liddle, Cian Harries.
