Made an important headed intervention to deny John Marquis a chance before he was beaten by a good finish from Ronan Curtis. Rarely called into action thereafter.
George Williams - 4
The opening goal emanated down his side, with the right-back being caught out of position to open a channel for George Byers to flick the ball through to Curtis, who finished well from 12 yards.
Alfie Kilgour - 5
Took an unnecessary risk with a pass in his own half that Curtis intercepted and should have made more use of the chance. Did very well to block a Marquis effort that would have killed the game.
Jack Baldwin - 6
An improved performance on recent form, handling his battles with Marquis well.
Luke Leahy - 5
Plugged away but his forays into the final third ended with a lack of quality.
Pablo Martinez - 5
Gritty effort but stodgy in possession. His tough education continues and he will be a better player for the experience.
Luke McCormick - 6
Showed his fighter's mentality to chase every lost cause until the end. Could not make things happen in possession, but in fairness he was met with a lack of movement in front of him.
Zain Westbrooke - 4
Set play delivery left a lot to be desired again, and he was slack with his control. Replaced after 58 ineffective minutes.
Alex Rodman - 6
A lively threat on the right of a front three. Will be fuming with James Daly and Brandon Hanlan that they were not in the right place to make more of Rodman's crosses. Started the second half brightly, too, but his influence faded and he was replaced.
James Daly - 4
Put himself about, but he did not find himself in scoring positions.
Brandon Hanlan - 4
Seemed to be on a different wavelength to his teammates at times and was comfortably contained by the Pompey defence.
