Bristol Rovers player ratings as McCormick scores brilliant lob in vain at Ipswich Town

Anssi Jaakkola - 7

Made several commanding punches to alleviate the pressure on his defence.

George Williams - 4

Cleared straight against Alan Judge to present Ipswich with a second goal. Better thereafter, but it proved the decisive goal.

Jack Baldwin - 7

Very good performance at the heart of the defence, winning countless aerial battles with Kayden Jackson and James Norwood.

David Tutonda - 4

Looked all at sea starting in the back three, and his clearance against Gwion Edwards resulted in the opening goal.

Ed Upson - 5

Was gripped by the same malaise as his teammates in the opening stages, but found more control thereafter. Could have moved the ball quicker, and more progressively, though.

Pablo Martinez - 7

Another mature performance across multiple positions as Barton changed shape.

Luke McCormick - 7

Could have done more in the lead up to the second goal, and his set-plays lacked precision, but he was superb otherwise. Led Rovers' press and scored a brilliant goal to give the Gas hope.

Zain Walker - 7

Continues to impress after being thrown in at the deep end. Looked menacing with every touch in the final third, and his teammates were guilty of not finding him enough.

Luke Leahy (c) - 5

Perhaps unfortunate to have an own goal against his name, and the defence settled when he was moved into the back three, but he was also culpable in a dreadful opening 15 minutes.

Brandon Hanlan - 5

Gave it his all, but snatched at his chances and had another frustrating afternoon.

Jonah Ayunga - 4

Rovers' best attacks went through him, so it was hugely frustrating to see him have such a sloppy day on the ball. His good work was outweighed by costly poor touches which curtailed promising attacks. His challenge created the opening goal.

Subs

Zain Westbrooke (for Tutonda on 60') - 5

Little impact.

Erhun Oztumer (for Walker on 72') - 3

Seemingly gave the ball away with every touch, was caught offside needlessly, gave away soft fouls and was booked.

Josh Hare (for Upson on 90') - N/A

Josh Barrett (for Ayunga on 90') - N/A

Not used: Joe Day, Mark Little, James Daly.
