Bristol Rovers player ratings as Max Ehmer makes huge contribution in win at Shrewsbury Town

Anssi Jaakkola - 8

Despite Shrewsbury being in the ascendancy, he had a quiet first half. Was quick off his line to brilliantly deny Daniel Udoh twice.

Max Ehmer (c) - 8

An unlikely source, but he created an early chance for Josh Grant only for the midfielder to volley his cross wide from close range. He made a superb read to cut out Udoh's through ball which would have sent Cummings through on goal. Made a brilliant goal-line block to deny Jan Zamburek a certain goal.

Jack Baldwin - 8

One or two errant passes could have proved costly, but he did well up against veteran forward Leon Clarke.

Cian Harries - 7

Sloppy at times, but handled a physical test well.

Josh Hare - 8

So close to scoring on a couple of occasions and he got stuck into his defensive work.

David Tutonda - 8

Some nice bursts forward in the second half and the wing-back made a couple of crucial tackles.

Brandon Hanlan of Bristol Rovers scores a goal to make it 1-0. (Robbie Stephenson/JMP)

Josh Grant - 7

Had a torrid first half, but was much better after the break as Rovers held firm under intense pressure.

Zain Westbrooke - 7

Created the Rovers' opening goal with a superbly whipped free-kick, which Hanlan glanced into the net from eight yards. Another smart dead-ball in first-half stoppage time played Tutonda in behind but the wing-back did not make the chance count.

Luke McCormick - 6

Plenty of effort, but he offered little going forward.

James Daly - 6

Quiet night for the striker after scoring in consecutive games. His usual effort levels were there, though.

Brandon Hanlan - 7

The striker netted his third goal in four games, leaping highest from Westbrooke's free-kick and bravely glancing the ball into the net before being clattered by the keeper. Battled hard and should have wrapped it up late on but blazed straight at the keeper.

Subs

Sam Nicholson (for Daly on 72) -7

Looked lively once again. Pushing for a start.

Erhun Oztumer (for McCormick on 72) - 7

Brought a touch of class and presented Hanlan with a great chance.

Ed Upson (for Westbrooke on 90) - N/A

Not Used: Jordi van Stappershoef, Alfie Kilgour, Luke Leahy, Cameron Hargreaves.
