Bristol Rovers player ratings as Leahy, Kilgour and Harries struggle in defeat at Hull City

Joe Day - 6

Powerless to prevent his net being struck twice by Gavin Whyte. Was often angry with his defence.

Max Ehmer (c) - 4

Hull found joy down both flanks in the first half and the captain was sacrificed at half time.

Alfie Kilgour - 4

Was edgy from the first minute and was tangled in a horrible mix-up with defensive partner Cian Harries, both competing for the same long ball and leaving a huge hole in the defence which led to the second goal.

Cian Harries - 4

He and Kilgour lost out to Josh Magennis to allow George Honeyman a free run into the box and Whyte had a simple chance to complete a brace.

George Williams - 5

Did not offer attacking threat as a wing-back. More at home in the back three in the second period.

Luke Leahy - 4

Has been in decent form but had a day to forget. His attempt to shepherd a loose ball out of play was horribly misjudged and he was punished ruthlessly by Mallik Wilks and Whyte. Leahy seemed unsettled for much of the game and his frustrations got the better of him at times.

Josh Grant - 6

Went off injured in the first half. Rovers were noticeably more vulnerable without him in the middle of the park.

Alex Rodman - 5

Started OK out of position in central midfield, but found life harder as Hull began to take control. Offered something of a threat when moved out wide in the second half, but his end product was below par.

Zain Westbrooke - 6

Bright and energetic, offering a source of ideas, but nothing quite came off.

Sam Nicholson - 5

Worked hard and tried to make positive runs off the ball, but they were often ignored.

Brandon Hanlan - 5

Not graced with great service, but his hold-up play was sloppy at times, costing Rovers possession in promising positions.

Subs

Ed Upson (for Grant on 33) - 4

Ponderous and wasteful in possession

Jonah Ayunga (for Ehmer on 46) - 6

Offered something of a focal point in attack and saw a good effort saved late on.

James Daly (for Hanlan on 69) - 5

Saw little of the ball in dangerous areas.

Zain Walker (for Nicholson on 69) - 6

Bright touches.

Jack Baldwin (for Harries on 69) - 6

Solidified the defence.

Not used: Jordi van Stappershoef, , Pablo Martinez.
