Bristol Rovers player ratings as Ehmer and Williams struggle in damaging loss at Plymouth Argyle

Jordi van Stappershoef - 5

Looked uneasy as he flapped at the cross which led to the opening goal. The ball almost escaped his grasp on a couple of occasions too.

Max Ehmer - 3

Back in the XI, but without the armband, and it was a real struggle. Hooked at half time.

Alfie Kilgour - 4

The willing runners of Ennis and Luke Jephcott gave the defence a torrid afternoon. Improved somewhat in the second period, but was sacrificed for an attacker.

Jack Baldwin - 4

Struggled defensively and was sloppy in possession.

George Williams - 4

Both of Niall Ennis' goals stemmed from his channel as the summer signing was troubled at wing-back. More at home at centre-back in the second half.

Luke Leahy (c) - 5

Attacking influence was limited, but was more secure defensively than his colleagues on the opposite side.

Ed Upson - 4

Danny Mayor gave him the slip several times and lacked influence on the ball.

Luke McCormick - 4

Eager but ineffective showing in midfield, symptomatic of the lack of precision Rovers showed in atatcking areas.

Zain Westbrooke - 5

Set plays were threatening but Argyle defended their box well. Glimpses of quality, but not enough.

Jonah Ayunga - 4

Looked bright early and had some good touches, but had very few opportunities bar the volley he constructed for himself in the opening minutes.

Brandon Hanlan - 5

Like Ayunga, his hold-up play was decent, but there was very little in the way of end product in the final third. Worked hard.

Subs

Josh Hare (for Ehmer on 46') - 5

Some trademark crosses threatened, but his overall passing was a bit inaccurate.

Erhun Oztumer (for Westbrooke on 77') - 6

Bright cameo.

James Daly (for Kilgour on 82') - 6

Got in good positions without it falling kindly for him.

David Tutonda (for Upson on 82') - 6

Delivered a teasing cross for Daly.

Not used: Jed Ward, Pablo Martinez, Zain Walker.
