Bristol Rovers owner Wael Al-Qadi answers questions on COVID-19, finances, stadium and more

Wael Al-Qadi admits Bristol Rovers are "desperate for good news" as the coronavirus pandemic – and the financial havoc it leaves in its wake – rumbles on.

The Gas have not played in front of a home crowd for almost 10 months, costing the club hundreds of thousands of pounds in revenue.

Rovers owner Al-Qadi said the club expects no further financial support from the Premier League, which has created a £50million pot to help clubs in League One and League Two, or the Government, stressing the importance for some form of normality to resume sooner rather than later,

"2020 was an awful year, thank god we're done with it," he told Bristol Live.

"We need fans back at the Mem because the situation is as a club we have no income.

"The help that has come has come, and there is no more help coming from the Premier League or Government.

"We're desperate for good news that this pandemic is entering the final phases and it will be over soon and everything can come back to normal."

The effect of COVID-19 was one of several topics covered in Bristol Live's exclusive interview with Al-Qadi on Saturday. Since the recording, the Government has implemented a third national lockdown and the owner has since stressed to Bristol Live the added restrictions have only worsened the situation facing EFL clubs.
