Bristol Rovers' move for Irish defender Liam Scales 'in limbo' after interest from Fleetwood Town

Collie O'Neill admits Liam Scales' future is in limbo.

The UCD defender looked set for a move to Bristol Rovers after previously turning down an approach from Manchester City under-23s in favour of senior football.

Yet interest from Fleetwood Town has muddied things and it remains unclear where Scales will end up - although O'Neill is hoping the 20-year-old will return to the Students in the short term.

“At the moment, it’s a limbo situation,” admitted UCD boss O’Neill to the Irish Mirror.

“We’ll just have to see if he will come back playing for us until it is all sorted out and finalised.

“There’s no confirmation of anything. It’s a holding pattern. Fleetwood have come in for him too but I think Liam had already appeared happy to go to Bristol Rovers.
