Bristol Rovers manager Graham Coughlan and Gas legend Ian Holloway leading contenders for Plymouth Argyle vacancy - latest odds

Bristol Rovers manager Graham Coughlan has moved joint favourite with Gas legend Ian Holloway to be the next Plymouth Argyle manager.

According to the Sack Race , the the current and former Bristol Rovers manager are 6/4 joint favourites to become the next Home Park boss following Derek Adams' departure over the weekend.

It is a dramatic movement, with Coughlan not even featuring in the betting as little as 48 hours ago.

Whilst Coughlan is an Argyle legend - he made 177 league appearances for the club - this seems a surprising development as he has been in charge of Rovers for just under four months and signed a two-and-a-half year contract when appointed manager.

Earlier today Coughlan addressed being linked with the job saying it was nice people are acknowledging the good work he is doing at Rovers.

Coughlan has secured Rovers' safety in League One with a goalless draw at Fleetwood Town on Saturday and, post-match, revealed he was excited for what the summer had in store for the club.

Meanwhile Ian Holloway has strongly suggested he would be open to a return to Home Park.

Holloway led Plymouth to fourth in the Championship as manager however his departure still leaves a bitter taste among certain factions of the Green Army as, with promotion to the Premier League a genuine prospect, he left the club for Leicester City in November 2007.

Former Rovers manager Darrell Clarke is third favourite with odds of 10/1.

Here are the top candidates according to the bookies:

Ian Holloway - 6/4

Graham Coughlan - 6/4

Darrell Clarke - 10/1

Keith Hill - 14/1

Gary Johnson - 16/1

Paul Hurst - 20/1
