Bristol Rovers linked with yet another Coventry City player as Tommy Widdrington looks at familiar faces

Bristol Rovers have been linked with yet another Coventry City player.

After signing Jonson Clarke-Harris and Abu Ogogo in January, Rovers have already reportedly shown interest in Sky Blues centre-back Tom Davies this summer.

Davies has departed the Ricoh Arena on a free transfer in search of first-team football and the Gas are said to be interested in him.

Coventry Live report that Rovers are now keen on signing Jack Grimmer, who was also released by the Sky Blues this summer.

Grimmer is a 25-year-old right-back and is available on a free transfer following his departure from Coventry.

He was a popular figure at the Ricoh Arena, helping them to promotion in 2017/18 before losing his starting place to on-loan Chelsea defender Dujon Sterling this season.

Rovers' links to the Sky Blues stem from head of recruitment Tommy Widdrington, who held a similar position at Coventry between April 2017 and May 2018.

Clarke-Harris, Davies and Grimmer all moved to the Ricoh Arena while Widdrington was head of recruitment there.

In an interesting turn of events, Grimmer and Davies are actually good friends and are on holiday together at the moment.

Rovers are on the lookout for a right-back, with utility man James Clarke filling in for the majority of 2018/19.

Whilst Clarke performed well, Grimmer is highly-regarded in attacking situations, which is an area Rovers struggled in from full-back last season.
