Bristol Rovers legends pay tribute to Lindsay Parsons for The Subs Bench

This week's Subs Bench sees Lindsay Parsons' former teammates pay tribute to him.

The Bristol Rovers legend passed away on Friday April 12 at the age of 73.

The uncompromising full-back played for Rovers, Torquay United, Gloucester City and Forest Green Rovers before going on to manage Cheltenham Town.

After joining the club on his 18th birthday, the Bristolian made 358 appearances for the Gas without scoring a single goal.

Parsons enjoyed two outstanding careers in the game, first on the pitch, and then as assistant and chief scout with Tony Pulis over 28 years on a journey from Gillingham at the bottom of the Football League all the way to Stoke in the top-flight.

Subs Bench spoke to Ian Holloway, Tony Pulis, Graham Day and other former players and colleagues who knew Lindsay at his funeral last week.

At his funeral, Ian Holloway said: "He was an absolutely tremendous man. Someone you couldn't help but admire."
