Bristol Rovers injury update: Latest over Tom Davies, Jonson Clarke-Harris, Josh Hare and others

It appears to be two steps forward, one step back for Bristol Rovers' injury list at the moment.

After being handed a boost over the last week with Liam Sercombe returning and Tareiq Holmes-Dennis finally getting back out onto the football pitch, Rovers were dealt a blow for the trip to Rochdale with influential defender Tom Davies picking up a knee injury.

Here is the latest news on the Gas' injuries.

Tareiq Holmes-Dennis

The Gas were handed a boost when the left-back played 45 minutes for the development squad against Portsmouth last week. It was his first taste of football since April and indicated he is on track to return to action at some point this month.

Holmes-Dennis' next step will be to make a first-team return. After being out of action for so long, Rovers will likely not want to rush him back and instead gradually up his game time, but he could well earn a place in the squad for next week's EFL Trophy game against Swindon Town.

Tom Davies

Davies has been impressive since joining Rovers in the summer, but he missed Saturday's trip to Rochdale through a knee injury picked up in training.

Post-match, Graham Coughlan said he could have been risked for the game, but that Rovers did not want to chance the possibility of worsening the injury. The Gas are instead hoping Davies returns to training today.

Jonson Clarke-Harris

The striker continues his recovery from a calf strain that has kept him out of action since the start of October.

His estimated return date is for the visit of Sunderland on November 16. but, if it doesn't, then the Rovers talisman will have an extra week of recovery.

Sam Matthews

Little is currently known about when the midfielder will return from injury after undergoing surgery in the summer.

Graham Coughlan said the former Eastleigh man is making good progress, but there has not been a return date set for the creative player.

Josh Hare

Rovers have been handed a boost over the news that Hare's knee injury sustained in September against Gillingham is not as bad as first feared.

After being stretchered off, it was thought that the ACL injury could keep him out for the rest of the season.

Yet a return date of February or March could now be a possibility.
