Bristol Rovers injury news: Latest on longstanding injuries as duo suffer niggles

Bristol Rovers travel to Burton Albion for tomorrow's game with almost a fully-fit squad.

There are just two long-standing injuries to Tareiq Holmes-Dennis and Sam Matthews, plus concerns over Liam Sercombe and Mark Little, who have both picked up niggles early on in the season.

Here is the latest from the Gas' physio room.

Tareiq Holmes-Dennis

The left-back remains out of action as he recovers from surgery on a knee injury.

Holmes-Dennis has been given a three to four month time scale on a return to action, although he has been undergoing rehab at the training ground, doing some light ball work. Yet he is still some way off resuming full contact training.

Sam Matthews

As with Holmes-Dennis, the situation with Matthews is as you were as he recovers from a summer operation.

He is scheduled to begin his rehab soon, but remains a long way off from a return to first-team football.

Liam Sercombe

The midfielder suffered a groin strain in the defeat to Coventry and missed the games against Tranmere Rovers, Oxford United and Brighton & Hove Albion.

Graham Coughlan said on Monday that Sercombe would be out for two more weeks, so it is likely that the Burton game comes too soon for his return.

Mark Little

The right-back has suffered some niggling injuries since joining Rovers , and was withdrawn after eight minutes against Wycombe Wanderers on August 10.

However, he was an unused sub in Rovers' last two matches, and Graham Coughlan says his challenge is to play 90 minutes. He faces a battle to get back into the starting XI due to Josh Hare's good form.
