Bristol Rovers discover EFL Trophy group stage opposition

Bristol Rovers have found out the majority of the sides they will play in this season's EFL Trophy.

The EFL teams in the competition have been drawn in their groups today, with the remaining Premier League under-23 sides being drawn on Friday at 12.30pm.

Rovers have been drawn in group F of the southern section, and will face Swindon Town and Plymouth Argyle.

It means Rovers will be the highest-placed league club in their group, with Swindon and Plymouth both in League Two.

Rovers will also play one of Arsenal, Brighton, Chelsea, Fulham, Norwich, Southampton, Tottenham Hotspur or West Ham United.

Last year saw Rovers produce a promising run in the tournament, as they progressed through to the semi-finals where they were eventually knocked out by Sunderland.

Coincidentally, the Gas are due to play Plymouth in a pre-season friendly at Home Park later this month.
