Bristol Rovers confirm which fans will get tickets for Portsmouth game

Bristol Rovers have confirmed their ticketing procedures after being the green light for supporters to return on Thursday.

The city was downgraded to Tier Two by the Government, meaning some COVID-19 restrictions will be eased on Saturday.

Under Tier Two, up to 2,000 fans are allowed to to make a socially-distanced return to games.

Rovers are required to first host a test event against Portsmouth on December 29 with 1,000 fans in attendance. The capacity will rise to 2,000 if the test event is a success.

The club has confirmed priority will be given to the first 1,000 fans who purchased their season tickets, and they will be contacted next week to confirm their attendance. They will also have to agree to a code of conduct which includes the wearing of face masks at all times.

Rovers have approximately 3,500 season ticket holders, but fans living in Tier Three areas, such as South Gloucestershire, will be unable to attend.

A club spokesman said: "Although these changes are an important step to getting you all back to the Mem, these initial fixtures will mean that we all have to make sacrifices.

"Some supporters may not be able to attend, others may have to move to different parts of the ground and normal match day routines will be changed.

"However, if we can all work together, follow the guidance and our code of conduct then that is the quickest way for us to get back to normality.

"We are looking forward to the long-awaited return of home supporters to the Mem and we ask that the guidelines and procedures are respected – to ensure the safety of all those attending home matches."

The club has confirmed bars, hospitality and concessions will remain closed, but will be reviewed in the weeks to come.

Season ticket holders who do not wish to attend or cannot obtain a ticket will continue to receive iFollow streaming access for home games.

All stands at the Mem will be in use to ensure social distancing and people attending will be required to print tickets at home.
