Bristol Rovers confirm departures of five members of staff as Joey Barton begins overhaul

Five senior members of staff have left Bristol Rovers, the club has confirmed.

Club legend Lee Mansell – Rovers' development squad manager – first-team coach Jack Mesure and David Coles have departed the Mem. Their exits were first reported by Bristol Live.

Head of medical services Miles Warren and head of sport science Alun Andrews have also been relieved of their duties.

"We would like to thank all the departing members of the first-team staff for their service," CEO Martyn Starnes said.

“It has been a tough and challenging season, amplified by the impact of COVID and the results on the pitch. These changes have been made as we look to accelerate plans for next season.

"We wish Jack, David, Lee, Miles and Alun the very best in their future endeavours."

Mesure, who arrived at the club in 2020 under Ben Garner as assistant manager, is set to take up a role at a Premier League club.

Mansell, the hero of the Wembley play-off final win in 2015, took charge of Rovers' under-23s following his retirement in 2017.

Warren and Andrews depart after manager Joey Barton vowed to make changes to Rovers' backroom staff following relegation to League Two.
