Bristol Rovers boss Joey Barton on a roll with back-to-back wins... on the racecourse

Back-to-back wins are a great result for any manager, and Joey Barton will hope his Bristol Rovers side can follow the form of his horse Electric Love.

The filly notched its second win in a week on Thursday, cruising home in front of a 12-strong field at Yarmouth.

The three-year-old, bred and owned by Barton and trained by Tom Clover, was an easy winner as an 8/13 favourite in the QuinnBet Acca Bonus Handicap this afternoon, backing up its five-furlong win over the same ground a week ago.

Electric Love, under Laura Pearson, now has two wins in five starts after making its debut at Wolverhampton in February.

Barton has enjoyed success in the sport of kings in the past, with My Propeller – named after the Arctic Monkey's song – winning four times for the Gas boss' purple and white silks from 2011-2014, accruing more than £50,000 in winnings.

The Rovers boss also had a win in 2018 with Lonely Boy, seemingly named after The Black Keys song.

In his playing days, Barton had co-owned Crying Lightning, another Arctic Monkeys nod, with former Chelsea striker and ex-Peru captain Claudio Pizzaro.

Barton and his Rovers players have spent the week at the Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre to start their pre-season training campaign.

The Gas play their first game since being relegated to League Two on Friday night, travelling to Melksham Town for a pre-season friendly.
