Bristol Rovers announce departure of Deon Moore

Bristol Rovers have confirmed that Deon Moore has left the club.

The young striker signed a six-month contract extension in the summer as he tried to break into the first team under former boss Graham Coughlan following an impressive pre-season campaign.

Yet he made just one appearance for the Gas this season, coming off the bench in a 2-1 victory over Chelsea under-21s in the EFL Trophy in September.

There were calls from fans for Moore to play when Jonson Clarke-Harris was injured, but manager Graham Coughlan said Moore 'knew what he had to do' to get into Rovers' first-team.

He was subsequently sent out on loan to National League South side Billericay Town in November.

Moore joined the club in August 2018 following his departure from Peterborough United and made two appearances for Rovers in his career.

Manager Ben Garner revealed he had no input in the decision to let Moore leave.

He said: "Deon had already left the club.

"He'd already left the club, it was done pretty much when I came in.

"I had no part of that, Deon didn't feature for me in training or anything like that, it was a decision that had already been taken prior to my arrival."
