Bristol road names changed for competition where you can win a free sandwich every week for a year

Sandwich Sandwich is giving away one lucky person a black card and 50 free sandwiches to celebrate National Sandwich Day. The successful café, which has five sites in Bristol, has launched a Bristol-wide campaign to give one lucky winner a free black card entitling them to a free sandwich every week for a year.

To mark National Sandwich Day today (November 3), the sandwich shop has joined forces with UberEats to take over streets named after foods in Bristol and rename them as sandwiches. Five street signs have been reimagined in Bristol in a stunt that's sure to puzzle many delivery drivers.

In Bristol they have changed:

  • Ham Lane to Ham Sandwich Lane - BS16
  • Cheese Lane to Cheese Sandwich Lane - BS2
  • Sandwich Road to Sandwich Sandwich Road - BS4
  • Christmas Steps to Christmas Sandwich Steps - BS1
  • Coronation Road to Coronation Chicken Sandwich Road -BS3

They've been changing road names around Bristol (Sandwich Sandwich)

To get your hands on a Sandwich Sandwich black card, all you have to do is be the first person to meet the team at one of the aforementioned street signs in Bristol. But, Sandwich Sandwich won't be announcing which street sign until 1pm on their Instagram story on Thursday (November 3), so you'll have to keep an eye out for the announcement. They will also have 50 free sandwiches to give away for anybody else that turns up, but not early enough to nab the black card.

Josh Kleiner from Sandwich Sandwich said: “National Sandwich Day is one of the biggest days of the year for us. I’d go as far as saying it’s almost as big as one of our sandwiches.

"We wanted to celebrate National Sandwich Day this year by turning parts of the country into sandwiches, so we teamed up with our amazing delivery partner Uber Eat and Marketing team at dollop marketing to help bring it to life”.

Last year, Sandwich Sandwich gave away 1,000 free sandwiches from its Baldwin Street site. The team had almost 3,000 people turn up in 45 minutes.

Chris Bramston, Head of South West & Wales for UberEats comments: "Sandwich Sandwich are one of Bristol's best loved and most creative food brands, who recently were voted among the South West's Best in the Uber Eats Restaurant Awards. It's our pleasure to have renewed our exclusive Partnership with them until 2024, and we look forward to setting the bar high for what Restaurants can achieve in collaboration with our in-city teams. -

There will also be hundreds of pounds worth of Uber Eats vouchers to win over on @sandwichbristol by taking part in fun Sandwich related games throughout National Sandwich Day on Thursday, November 3.
