Bristol restaurant Casamia named among top 20 in the UK

A city centre restaurant has been named the 19th best in the country.

Casamia, on Lower Guinea Street, was recognised by the National Restaurant Awards yesterday (June 10).

It comes after the Michelin-star Italian restaurant, run by Peter Sanchez-Iglesias, was ranked as the best in the UK by Harden’s Best Restaurant Guide 2019.

Casamia, which rose eight places this year in the National Restaurant Awards list, offers a menu that changes day-to-day with seasonal offerings. It costs between £98 - £118 per person.

The judges called it "one of the country’s most exciting restaurants", praising its "modern yet ingredient-focused and naturalistic food".

Peter Sanchez-Iglesias was the Waitrose Good Food Guide’s Chef Of The Year in 2017.

He is in the process of bringing a new restaurant to the Finzels Reach development.

The former sugar refinery is being transformed by Cubex into a multi-use site which will include a development kitchen led by Mr Sanchez-Iglesias.
